The Fall of Egypt

Eventually the Egyptians were defeated by the Assyrians who had the first Idea of a Empire. An empire gave a civilization more chances to make troops. Soon After the Assyrians were defeated by the Persians. Basically a Empire of warriors who had armies in the millions. However the Persians were killed of by the Greeks who out witted them. I know your probably thinking about Spartans now that I said that.

The linen Kilt of Armor

Right now your probably looking at that title and saying what the- (removed for child safety) is a kilt! Well not to go into detail but... it's a 4 foot by 1 foot piece of linen wrapped around the waist multiple times them slid behind them and hanging down between the legs. In short, it's a loin cloth. Besides that a soldier will where a leather chest protector. Also they had a 3 foot long shield and a padded linen helmet. Most men were armed with a spear.

Sand Soldiers

When you think of an army you probably think of a bunch of people who just grab weapons and get in lines. However you shouldn't think that because for every type of weapon there's a different type of soldier. Now I'm not your mother but hear me through. Like I said each type of unit has it's own weapon. For example, foot soldiers usually carried swords or spears. A mercenary was usually an archer. Finally commanders, generals and kings usually held a khopesh.

Big Battles with Big Armies

In 1274 B.C.  in the land of Syria during the rein of Ramses II the armies of Egypt and the Hittites fought over the vast land of Egypt. The 2 empires had always been wary of each other and now the time was right to strike. Wait stop..... I'm doing it again, trying to impersonate the Lord of the Rings  narrator. (sigh) Anyway the two armies equally matched each other. Egypt had a force of 18- some really big number in the thousands, and a little bitty army of 2,000 chariots. The Hittites had an even smaller force of 37,000 infantrymen and 2,500 chariots. The whole war had the violence of a sandbox war. ( JK LOL) Eventually an uneasy treaty was created in 1259 B.C. during the rein of king Hattusislis.

Wepons of War

Khopesh, Short sword and Dagger
Ever since the dawn of time, wars have waged across the globe. Some of the most violent wars have happened in Africa and the Middle East. I'm going to tell you about the heroics, the villainy, the- well you get the idea. I'm going to tell you about a civilization lost to the sands of time until now. " Don don don Donn!"
Among the many great empires you may have heard about Egypt probably stands out the most. Now I could spend all day telling you about clothing, pyramids, or food but I thought that you'd be more interested Egyptian warfare. The most common Egyptian weapon was the khopesh ( khopesh ) it had an Arabic style blade then a straight single hand hilt. Infantry men had spears or javelins. Mercenaries had composite or re-curve bows. Also they had a silver shafted ax called a epsilon ax. It had a two handed hilt with a "m" shaped blade on the front, it was probably used for slicing. I think we can all agree that Egyptian weapons could inflict some serious damage or ponage for all you Call of Duty players.
